Warren Osborn
Finding Happiness in Success

Brother Osborn spoke on four distinct topics: Thriving in Hardship, Talents/Gifts/Weaknesses, Innovation, and Energy. He related many stories to demonstrate his points.

He emphasized that we may not know what will make us happy in the future. He told of a time as a young father where he had to put college on hold and find work to pay off a substantial debt. He later found even that to be a great blessing in his life. We were encouraged not to get discouraged when the tough times come.

He spoke of gifts and weaknesses as if they were two sides of a coin and testified that our weaknesses can truly be turned into gifts. Concerning, these things he said that each of us is given gifts of God. Some gifts are natural and everpresent. Some take alot of work. We must develope these gifts. He admonished us to never give up in the development of our gifts telling us that our gifts are us. He said that as we develope gifts, doors will open and that we need to use our gifts in everyday life.

We were told to be innovative and to think about what will make our customer successful. Referring to a large bid he had placed, he told us to make better boxes. Then concerning the energy we use, he asked if we could get to the top of the Grand Teton by 6pm tomorrow if we were promised $1 million. That's how we need to approach the tasks we face.

He told us not get get stressed when doors close. Others will open. He also told us never to slack on our morals for money.

I attended this forum for one purpose: I desired extra credit. I came out with alot of answers and leads to questions that have been perplexing me for quite some time. I need to evaluate my gifts, talents, and weaknesses and see what I'm doing with them now and what I could be doing with them. I plan to be able to assess or reassess my career choice as part of this process.
